What is the Expanded Learning Program?
Are you the parent or guardian of a middle or high school student? Is your child interested in making new friends, participating in hands-on science & art projects, or going on fun, educational excursions? Look no further than the Expanded Learning Program (ELP) at Hale O Ulu!
The ELP is an after-school and intersession program that offers a safe place for youth to spend their afternoons and continue their growth outside of the classroom. The ELP aims to support students by providing:

What services are offered?
- Academic Support – get help with homework, learn from peers, and improve study habits
- Cultural Enrichment – learn about other cultures, languages, and values
- STEM & Hands-On Learning – engage in science, engineering, and math projects
- Creative Arts – express your imagination through visual and performance art
- Financial Literacy & Life Skills – learn how to make responsible decisions, create budgets, and solve everyday problems
- Heath, Wellness, & Physical Activities – participate in indoor/outdoor sports and movement activities
- Social-Emotional Development – form friendships with peers, work in groups, and develop leadership skills
Who is eligible?
6th-12th grade students are eligible to participate in the ELP. The program’s primary service areas are Ewa, Waipahu, and Kapolei. The services offered at the ELP are provided completely free of charge to participants and their families.
What are your hours?
After school – 6:00 P.M.
Please note that hours are subject to change during holidays, school breaks, or unforeseen circumstances (i.e. inclement weather).
