Wayne & Colleen
Minami Family Fund

Steadfast supporters of Child & Family Service (CFS) since 1998, Wayne & Colleen Minami helped co-found the Stronger Families Fund® (SFF) in 2014 through a lead pledge of $100,000. Their gift launched the SFF campaign and helped inspire 43 other “Champions of CFS” to answer their challenge, ultimately raising a hui of $1 million.

Since then, the Stronger Families Fund® has continued to grow by 14 additional $1 million hui’s, providing sustainable private funding to meet emerging community needs. Examples include supporting domestic violence shelters and transitional housing, accessible walk-in family centers statewide, and providing flexibility to respond to community crisis such as natural disasters, public health emergencies, and economic downturns.

As invested supporters of CFS, the Minami’s witnessed the growing demand for domestic violence prevention and treatment services across Hawai‘i, alongside rising program, administrative costs, and stagnant contract allotments that create funding gaps and limit access to critical support.

Furthering their remarkable generosity, Collen & Wayne committed another gift to establish the first privately endowed named fund for CFS, the Wayne & Colleen Minami Family Fund. The fund is dedicated to supporting the CFS domestic violence shelters, transitional housing, and prevention and treatment programs for survivors statewide. Their commitment ensures that individuals and families receive care, dignity, and hope when they need it most.

Since the loss of Wayne in September 2025 it is with deep gratitude that we honor his legacy by growing the Wayne & Colleen Minami Family Fund endowment.
